Tarot and Oracle Cards, What's the Difference?
Decks can be used to get answers to all of life's questions. We will go through the difference between tarot and oracle cards below.
Tarot cards
The tarot cards are made up of 78 cards and 2 arcana, the major and minor arcana. The Major Arcana has 22 cards and deals with the human factor, the bigger issues. The minor arcana is divided into 4 houses and has a total of 56 cards. The houses are cups, coins, swords and staffs.
In some tarot decks, the houses (cups, coins, staffs and swords) can be exchanged for e.g. elements or seasons.
Beaker - Represents emotions, creativity and devotion - Element water - Season summer
Coin - Represents material, work, growing and the physical - Element earth - Season autumn
Sword - Represents intellect, thoughts, plans, decisions and conflicts - Element air - Season winter
Wands - Stands for strength, will, power, ideas and energy - Element fire - Season spring
The history of tarot cards is a mystery today. There are only theories about where it all started, but like many other things, many believe that it comes from the ancient Egyptians.
Oracle cards
Oracle cards can be about absolutely anything and have as many or as few cards as desired. There is nothing fixed in oracle cards, but everything is up to the author and creator of the cards to decide.
